Thinking your house needs a makeover, but aren’t sure where to start? Here are some tips for making your home beautiful on both the inside and out.
Replace Your Windows
No need to choose between aesthetics and practicality here: you can pick windows that both offer a nice view and are nice to look at. One great option would be colonial grid windows, which look great from the outside and barely obstruct your view, regardless of the design you choose. There are many different kinds to choose from, although grids-between-glass options (in which the grilles are installed between two glass panes) are especially easy to clean.
Expand Your Kitchen
In some houses, the kitchen can be one of the smallest areas, which can make it a little crowded if it’s where you prefer to dine (or if people often gather there). Think about adding a few inches, but you might want to avoid moving the sink, as the plumbing expenses can substantially add to your total cost.
Revamp That Bathroom
Just because you may not be at your most glamorous when using the bathroom doesn’t mean the room itself shouldn’t be. Think about adding some lights or space for maximum coziness: maybe even a bath tub, if you don’t have one already. Again, remember that moving any pre-existing plumbing, e.g. that of your toilet or shower, can be costly, but if it’s absolutely necessary, get new pipes to go along with the changes, as you won’t have to end up paying to replace the old ones later on.
Add a Deck or Room
If you have guests over often, a few extra rooms wouldn’t hurt if they stay the night. Or, if your social gatherings are mostly during the day, consider a deck or a Florida Room to entertain with a view.
When it comes to remodeling, no house is beyond saving. So explore your options: they may be more plentiful than you realized.
